The story of the little bottle of oil
The Alpchemist adventure began almost three years ago with a small bottle of oil – originally mixed just for ourselves. But soon we were giving away a bottle here, then another there. Within a very short time, the small bottle of oil enjoyed unexpected popularity among our friends. Well, not that unexpected! We always knew that great things lay in that small bottle. Nevertheless, the enthusiasm was simply overwhelming and presented us with the crucial question: What's next? Now the real work began. Months of research, product development, an Excel database with over 1,000 lines, more than 50 product testers, the development of a brand, and countless sleepless nights. It was a time of learning and challenges. The Alpchemist was born. And, as the saying goes: The rest is history.

We have neither the time nor the desire for complicated routines or poor products. We develop all The Alpchemist products with this goal in mind—the highest quality, ease of use, and real results.

Thomas Schaffer
Founder & Product Developer
I moved to the USA at the age of 16, where I not only graduated from high school, but thanks to a football scholarship, I also earned three degrees from the elite Stanford University. During my time there, I intensively studied optimal performance – be it in sports, in everyday life, or through the products we use every day. My goal was always to bring clarity to the constant flood of information.
With this heightened awareness of ingredients and their effects, I became increasingly disillusioned with many conventional products: unreasonable prices, many synthetic ingredients and "fillers," and solutions that often only masked symptoms rather than truly solving problems. I began making products for myself, including my first Altitude Meter Oil. The first stone had been laid.
During my training, I acquired a basic scientific understanding, which enabled me to focus intensively on developing my own skincare line. Two key aspects were always at the forefront of my mind: every ingredient serves a clear purpose, and every product is characterized by uncompromising quality.

The original product tester: Pia has tried countless face and hair oils over the years—partly out of curiosity, partly out of necessity. Her personal experience with skin and hair problems has made her the most critical product tester and the ideal voice behind our texts.
With a background in economics and a keen sense of language, she combines analytical thinking with honest, accessible storytelling. She knows what truly interests people—because she herself spent a long time searching for honest, effective care.
